Xiang (Shawn) Fei is a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University, advised by Prof. Sebastian Scherer at the AirLab. Prior to that, he also earned his M.S. degree in Robotics from CMU Robotics Institute in 2026, advised by Prof. Howie Choset at the Biorobotics Lab. Before joining CMU, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen (CUHKSZ) in 2024.

Shawn’s research aims at learned, robust, and generalizable spatial perception for robotics.
