Yifan Lin is a Research Assistant in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. He is currently pursuing a BASc in Engineering Science at the University of Toronto, majoring in Machine Intelligence. His work at the AirLab is part of his Professional Experience Year (PEY) Co-op.
His research interests include multimodal robot perception, computer vision, 3D scene understanding, and foundation models for robotics. Broadly, he is interested in building intelligent robotic systems that can understand natural-language instructions, interact with the physical world, and operate reliably in real time.
Outside of research, Yifan enjoys film and landscape photography, movies, musicals, hiking, and road trips. He also follows spaceflight, formula racing, and enjoys tinkering with homelab/IoT projects.
